Opportunities for education worldwide: International scholarship programmes enter the next round
The OeAD, Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation, is offering internationally oriented scholarship and funding programmes worth €15 million for the 2026/27 academic year. The scholarships and grants are financed by the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) and administered by the OeAD.
The aim of the BMFWF scholarships is to enable international study and research stays. ‘Everyone should have the opportunity to learn, conduct research and develop new perspectives across borders. Internationalisation opens doors, broadens horizons and strengthens social cohesion in a global world,’ says Federal Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner.
The programmes enable Austrian students, teachers and researchers to spend time abroad and offer international applicants the opportunity to study, teach or conduct research at Austrian higher education and research institutions, thereby also contributing to Austria's attractiveness as a location for higher education and research.
OeAD Managing Director Jakob Calice emphasises: ‘With the internationally oriented scholarship and funding programmes for the 2026/27 academic year, we are creating concrete opportunities for mobility, scientific exchange and sustainable cooperation. International study and research stays are a key lever for further strengthening the quality, innovative power and global networking of Austria as a location for higher education and research.’
The specific calls for applications with information on the target group, submission requirements, funding amounts, duration and submission deadlines are published in the Austrian database for scholarships and research funding www.grants.at.
