About the building:
Since 20 December 2010 the OeAD headquarters has been located at Ebendorferstraße 7, 1010 Vienna. The corner building with Grillparzerstraße was built between 1882 and 1883 by Heinrich von Ferstel and Karl Köchlin. The historicist building in the Viennese Neo-Renaissance style has a round corner tower with a corbelled balcony and a green dome. On the corner there is a memorial plaque of the Austrian Trade Union Federation commemorating the suppression of the communist uprising in 1950. From 1921 to 1938 and at the beginning of the Second Republic the building was the joint headquarters of the chamber of labour and the trade union headquarters, after which it housed the Construction and Woodworkers' Union until 2009.
