Highly coveted: 2-euro commemorative coins
Vienna (OTS) – 2-euro commemorative coins are 2-euro coins that are dedicated to a special theme and can be used as legal tender in all participating countries of the euro area. On the initiative of the European Commission all member countries of the euro area are to issue a 2-Euro commemorative coin with the same picture in July 2022 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme. The face of the coin differs in the individual euro member countries only by the arrangement and spelling of the country name and the country code, the national mint marks and sometimes by the spelling of the occasion of issue.
In 2022 we are celebrating 30 years of Erasmus+ in Austria and 35 years of Erasmus+ in Europe. Erasmus+ is one of the EU’s most popular and successful funding programmes. The programme was established in 1987 as an exchange programme for university students. Now Erasmus+ offers even more people the opportunity to spend time abroad: whether they are going to school, have started an apprenticeship, work in adult education or are active in the fields of youth and sports.
The following groups of persons will be interested in it
1. The group of 2-Euro friends, which is large in many countries; there are numerous websites and forums where collectors actively exchange information. This offers the opportunity to discover, collect and exchange unusual coins in daily life – for example in the way of change – without a surcharge. Some of these coins are now in great demand and are traded at higher collector’s values. It is therefore worthwhile to check your wallet for such coins at regular intervals.
2. Those 350,000 people from Austria who have so far been seized by wanderlust to complete an internship abroad or to study, teach, work or initiate a project in another country.
