European Year of Youth 2022: Get active and help shape it
“Make the Year of Youth your EU Year of Youth” is the message to young people in Austria. The European Year of Youth focuses on topics and concerns of young people. Financial support is now available for this: Young people as well as associations and organisations working with young people can apply for between 100 and 1,000 euros for their activities. A total of 100,000 euros is available. State secretary Claudia Plakolm and the OeAD’s managing director Jakob Calice launched the “Your EU Year of Youth” initiative on 17 March 2022.
All young people, organisations and institutions working with young people are invited to take part in the European Year of Youth. “Europe is as natural to us young people as the mobile phone in our pockets. We are just as naturally Europeans as we are Austrians. And it is just as natural for young people to help shape this Europe in associations or as individuals. We will use this Year of European Youth to make our concerns heard, to give our ideas a voice and to shape our future and we will also support this financially,” says Claudia Plakolm, encouraging young people to take part.
“Your EU Year of Youth” initiative: Get active and help shape it
Anyone planning an activity for young people on environmental and climate protection, digital change, inclusion, participation or the EU Youth Goals in Austria can apply for a financial subsidy. The activities can be very diverse: campaigns, neighbourhood projects, events in public spaces, discussions, publications, social commitment and much more. The OeAD supports this commitment with 100 to a maximum of 1,000 euros from funds from the EU programmes Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps.
Enabling participation
“With the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes the European Union supports projects by and for young people. In the Year of Youth young people are called upon to show what they believe is important to make Europe greener, more inclusive and more digital. What should the world look like after the pandemic? We are happy that with the additional initiative “Your EU Year of Youth” we are able to offer a very low-threshold participation opportunity,” says Jakob Calice, managing director of the OeAD, the national agency for Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.
Many funding options for youth projects
The EU programmes Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps also offer a wide varietyof other attractive funding options for youth projects. Volunteering of young people at regional and international level is supported by the European Solidarity Corps. Encounters between young people from different countries, training and further education of youth work professionals, cooperation projects in the youth sector and youth participation projects are financed by Erasmus+.
