Conference on cultural education, resilience and sustainability in Vienna
On behalf of the Ministry of Education Austria’s education agency OeAD supports 3,000 cultural education projects at schools all over Austria every school year. In cooperation with artists and cultural institutions project-oriented teaching and “learning through art” are promoted. The examination of current social issues by pupils as well as the possibilities for shaping their future play an important part in this context.
The everyday life of children and young people is currently strongly affected by crises such as climate change, the pandemic or war in Europe. The OeAD and EDUCULT would therefore like to invite you to a conference and practical exchange on “Kulturelle Bildung, Resilienz und Nachhaltigkeit zusammen_denken” (Thinking about cultural education, resilience and sustainability together) in Vienna on 15 September 2022. Teachers, artists and cultural educators from Austria will get an opportunity to discuss with European researchers about the practice of cultural education as well as perspectives for a resilient and sustainable approach to transformations.
The conference will take place in cooperation with the ENO. The ENO (European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education) was founded in Berlin in 2015 and connects some 40 knowledge centres and universities all over Europe. The ENO’s aim is to facilitate the exchange of research results and innovative practice, to stimulate new research in cultural education and to support the development of cultural education within the framework of the UNESCO’s global policies and guidelines for education, culture and sustainable development.
Jakob Calice, managing director of the OeAD:
“The OeAD regards it as an important mission to sustainably shape educational processes of children and young people at the interface of education and society. Bearing in mind that major and radical social changes can only be mastered by means of international cooperation we are happy to have experts and scientists from the European network ENO as our guests in Vienna. It will be an intensive and valuable exchange about the practice of cultural education in Austria.”
