New European digital hub “European School Education Platform”
At an Erasmus+ networking meeting on 22 September 2022 in Vienna the new “European School Education Platform” was presented to 125 Austrian teachers, representatives of the education directorates of all federal provinces and representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. The European digital platform unites eTwinning – the community for schools in Europewith the School Education Gateway. The aim is to provide all those involved in primary education, school education, vocational education and training, and kindergarten education, such as teachers, school staff, researchers and policy makers, with a common European contact point for information, exchange, cooperation and professional development.
Moreover, three Austrian schools were awarded the EUROPEAN INNOVATIVE TEACHING AWARDS(EITA). The EITA is awarded in all Erasmus+ countries and recognises completed Erasmus+ projects that used excellent teaching practices. With this award the European Commission recognised the excellent work of teachers at their schools for the second time. The OeAD’s managing director Jakob Calice congratulates the awardwinners: “This European award recognises the special work of teachers and their innovative and special teaching practices. The award also shows what significant impulses are possible through European cooperation of teachers via Erasmus+. Every stay abroad, every international cooperation, every look beyond the rim of one’s teacup is a cultural experience and self-development and contributes to the creation of a common educational space. Congratulations to the schools!”
The schools that were awarded prizes in Austria in three age categories of learners are:
- The Höhere Lehranstalt für wirtschaftliche Berufe Türnitz for the project “Water-Woda-Wasser”.
- The Bundesrealgymnasium Wels Wallererstraße for the project “Educating Innovative and Creative European Citizens”
- The Primary School am Tabor for the project “Keep Your Footprint Low and Make the Earth Grow”.
The OeAD is the national agency for the implementation of Erasmus+ in Austria.
