Innovation in education: OeAD shows how teachers are shaping the future

OeAD magazine highlights the key role of teachers in preparing pupils for an ever-changing world
04.10.2023

Austria’s Education Agency OeAD publishes a magazine on the occasion of the world teachers' day on 5 October 2023 that examines the important part that innovative teachers play in the education system.

Under the motto #GetEducationMoving exemplary cases have been collected to illustrate why innovative teachers are of central importance in the education system. The articles take you to various educational institutions in Austria to present teachers and headmasters and headmistresses who demonstrate outstanding commitment and creative approaches to shaping education.

The contributions focus on the use of school autonomy, the enrichment of school education through partnerships, the involvement of experts in teaching and the benefits of mobility in teaching and learning. Practical approaches illustrate how teachers integrate innovation into the educational process.

Innovation in education is more than a buzzword

Innovation plays a central part in preparing pupils for the challenges of a continuously changing world. Innovative teachers act as architects of this transformation by fostering creativity and flexibility in the classroom, using modern technologies to make lessons more interactive and creating an environment where the pupils can develop their full potential. This includes establishing a feedback culture to improve learning. They also cooperate closely with other stakeholders in education and put an emphasis on lifelong learning. The focus is always on the individual learning of the pupils. And: they have team support.

The OeAD magazine invites you to learn about these practical examples and provides information about different programmes that the OeAD offers on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the European Union to promote innovative teaching practices. The magazine is also available online at www.oead.at/bildungsinnovation.

The OeAD, Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation, works on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and implements a wide range of educational activities and priorities to support schools. The OeAD is also the national agency for the implementation of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.
