Facilitated job search and professional CVs via the Europass portal
The European Commission launched the new Europass platform in early July.
150 million Europass CVs have been issued in the EU since 2005. Expansion of the EU portal to include job search and training.
25 million CVs are created via Europass each year; since 2005 there have been 150 million comparable CVs. On the Europass portal Europeans can create a personal profile of their skills, competences and learning experiences and use it to create professional and comparable CVs. July saw the launch of an increased use of the Europass portal for letters of application and job search. Ernst Gesslbauer, Director of the Erasmus+ Education programme at the OeAD, explains: "The Europass portal now offers jobseekers assistance with their applications. Already on the first day of the new portal it has been accessed 100,000 times!" With the "application tracker" job seekers can always keep an eye on their applications.
A special support feature is that Europeans are shown further education and job opportunities that match their profile exactly. To this end the EURES database, the European job mobility portal, has been linked to the Europass portal, and the "Learning Opportunities and Qualifications Portal" (LOQ) has been integrated. The Europass portal thus also provides general information about working and studying in Europe.
