7300 pupils from 160 schools dealt with sustainability in a creative way
"Sustainable! – Shaping tomorrow together" was the motto of the creative competition "projekteuropa", to which the OeAD as Austria’s education agency invited all schools in Austria. 7300 pupils from 160 schools dealt with sustainability in a creative way in the school year 2022/23. A jury selected 65 winners from the 209 entries and cash prizes totalling 26,500 euros were awarded. The spectrum of topics and titles ranged from Climate Gifs, Fashion and Sustainability, Fact and Fiction, The Future on your Plate, Green Living Room, Recycling Heroes, Small Things – Big Change to Waste in Space. Pupils developed innovative ideas for shaping a peaceful and sustainable society and used the whole range of art disciplines for their artistic projects.
The jury consisting of persons from the fields of education, sustainability, and art and culture emphasised: "In different art disciplines and forms of collaboration the pupils created works on this year's focus theme and impressively demonstrated their wealth of ideas and artistic skills. The ambitious and exciting projects showed the links between ecological and social sustainability and focused especially on gender and other diversity issues. The creative competition projekteuropa and the winning projects thus show the contribution schools make to anchoring the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the minds of young people by bringing them in touch with this topic and raising awareness for it through art in their environment".
