Focus on innovative education: Winners of the European Innovative Teaching Awards 2023 announced Shaping education for the future. Award winners from Burgenland, Styria and Carinthia set standards The OeAD, Austria’s education agency, congratulates the kindergarten Großsteinbach (Styria), the primary school St. Marein bei Neumarkt (Styria), the grammar school BG/BRG/BORG “Franz Liszt” Oberpullendorf (Burgenland) and the technical college HTL Mössingerstraße, Klagenfurt (Carinthia) on winning the European Innovative Teaching Award 2023. The OeAD’s managing director Jakob Calice emphasises the importance of innovative teachers: “The European Innovative Teaching Award 2023 winners have shown impressively how innovation and creative teaching and learning work in our educational institutions. Their commitment and innovation are groundbreaking and set a benchmark for teachers all over Europe. We congratulate the winners and are proud to support their projects through Erasmus+. The European event will also be used as a networking meeting for the more than 90 EITA awardee schools and kindergartens. About the European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA): The European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) is awarded in all Erasmus+ countries. It rewards outstanding projects and teaching approaches in European education within the framework of Erasmus+ and recognises innovative teachers and educational institutions. The award is presented by the European Commission in cooperation with Austria’s education agency OeAD and promotes the further development of education systems in Europe. The OeAD is the national agency for the implementation of Erasmus+ in Austria. For 2023 the theme was "Education and Innovation", which is directly linked to the European Commission’s focus on the European Year of Skills for 2023.The award celebration took place within the framework of an Erasmus+ School Education networking meeting with more than 200 teachers and education staff from all over Austria on 28 September in Vienna. The schools and kindergarten awarded the EITA in Austria are: Category Pre-school education: Kindergarten Großsteinbach (Styria) for the project "Digital and European Competences in Großsteinbach". Category Primary schools: Primary school St. Marein bei Neumarkt (Styria) for the project "Nature detectives on the road" Category Schools of vocational education: Höhere Technische Lehranstalt Mössingerstraße, Klagenfurt (Carinthia) for the project "Integration of Mobile Apps into Education". Category Secondary schools: BG/BRG/BORG “Franz Liszt” Oberpullendorf (Burgenland) for the project "Today for the World of Tomorrow".
