The whole of Austria celebrates the ErasmusDays Activities will take place all over the world for the fifth time from 14 to 16 October 2021. The worldwide ErasmusDays show what good experiences people and institutions have had with the EU programme Erasmus+. From 14 to 16 October 2021 thousands of young people and educational institutions will once again present their new horizons and perspectives by means of events, flash mobs, exhibitions and consultation days. To kick off the ErasmusDays 2021 the grammar/high school Bernoulli Gymnasium Vienna presented its projects in the Ministry of Education’s audience hall. For the head of section Iris Rauskala of the Federal Ministry of Education the European idea lives through Erasmus+. She emphasises: “Erasmus+ is about European cohesion, it is about us. The programme strengthens transnational exchange, commonality, learning from each other and with each other.” In this way the EU programme promotes the development of a common European “learning space” and strengthens the European identity and cohesion in Europe. Furthermore, Erasmus+ has an influence on professional and private careers. Jakob Calice, the OeAD’s managing director, emphasises: “New experiences are made, often lifelong friendships are formed, different working techniques and ways of living are learned. Know-how is exchanged and transnational cooperation and new ideas are born.” Last year more than 5,000 events took place in 84 different countries and more than 125 million people were reached digitally under the hashtag #ErasmusDays. Austria will receive around 580 million euros in EU funding for the Erasmus+ Education programme period 2021-2027. The OeAD is responsible for the implementation of the programme as national agency. www.erasmusplus.at
